Smartware Corporation is a technology company headquartered in Cairns, Australia, with founding companies Queensland Telecom and Global Internet Express (Australia).

In historical terms, Smartware lays claim to having opened one of the first Internet lounges in Australia. To meet growing demand (now over 10 million logins) and improve service delivery, the company has continually developed the SmartTimer format since inception in the late 1990’s.

Ongoing updates and upgrades have seen the SmartTimer technology broaden its scope to encompass numerous additional product features. To maintain best practice, Smartware is guided by the feedback and support of its customers.

Smartware's main product is its Internet Cafe Management Software 'SmartTimer'. SmartTimer Internet Cafe Software assists managers with efficient, cost effective public internet access, translating into enhanced performance, minimized ongoing PC maintenance and trouble-free revenue generation. SmartTimer is available for Windows Based PC's and is also available as a stand alone wifi hotspot gateway solution.

Queensland Telecom was one of the early pioneers of the Australian telecommunication pre deregulation. Their niche market was the prepaid market, particularly phone cards and internet. Their XCOM virtual phonecard introduced in 1996 offered unique features that differentiated it from the offering of the major telcos. Their XL account offered the first combined landline, mobile, callback and internet bundling. Their national and international "Follow Me" feature has still to this day not been replicated.

Queensland Telecom was also one of the first companies in Australia to offer public internet access, with 3 sites in the Cairns area. In the late 1990's, it joined forces with Global Internet Express to form Smartware Corporation, an internet technology company headquartered in Cairns, Australia.

In 2004 the telecommunications side of the business was sold to a major provider and the company now concentrates on its internet based business through Smartware Corporation.
